Aerobic activity is great at improving your aerobic capacity. So the more aerobic conditioning you do, the more in shape aerobically you are.
And that’s great.
However, anaerobic training is the opposite.
(NOTE – ‘anaerobic’ = without oxygen. You’re breathing so fast that you can’t get sufficient oxygen into your system to create energy whilst still working.)
Anaerobic training will improve your anaerobic capacities. This would make sense – what you train, you get better at. However, studies have shown that in certain environments, anaerobic training can also lead to improvements in aerobic capacities as well – not just anaerobic.
